A Peculiar Visitor

, ,

Guess what? Our backyard Nest Camera was on a roll last night, capturing over 20 video clips starring our very own “Tinkerbell” – yep, possibly a butterfly or even a dragonfly! From 7:35 PM to 4:47 AM, this little charmer flitted around, making us wonder what in the world it was doing all night and morning long. Our fresh Blueberry bushes are blooming, so perhaps the visitor is feeding and pollinating them for us? Or maybe it’s a dragonfly taking care of all the mosquitoes and such…

Could it be? Is winter finally bidding adieu here in sunny Austin, TX? We’re skipping our traditional “February Freeze Bad Weather Wine Party” this year, as it seems winter’s taking a back seat. Instead, our garden is bursting with early spring flowers, enchanting us with their vibrant colors and calling all sorts of sweet visitors.

And guess who’s joining the party? None other than a stunning Red Admiral Butterfly! Wait…there’s two delightful visitors fluttering about, gracefully sipping nectar from the Dandelions and Henbit in our neighbor’s yard. Looks like spring has sprung, bringing along its own brand of magic!

We’ve been preparing our Charming Backyard Butterfly Garden for a fun filled season of caterpillars and butterflies.

Drumroll, please! Behold, the debut snapshot of our freshly prepped 2024 Charming Backyard Butterfly Garden, complete with snazzy new planters!

Take a peek, and you’ll spot the dashing Snapdragons striking a pose in the back flower bed, while not one but two Blueberry planters steal the show at the bottom right corner.

It’s like a blank canvas, brimming with endless possibilities and a plethora of plant options just waiting to be chosen!

But here’s the twist: this year, we’re not just planting for the present; oh no, we’re sowing seeds for the future, gearing up for a butterfly bonanza next year! Plus, we’re rolling out the green carpet with a smorgasbord of delectable butterfly treats to entice even more of those delightful pollinators. Let the garden games begin!
